October 30 – 10:00 a.m. car shuttle
Set aside Sunday, October 30th for the Illinois Paddling Council's Annual Fall End-of-Season Trip. We will paddle the Pecatonica River in Winnebago County. You have a choice for a short 5.5 mile paddle, or a longer 12 mile paddle. The Fall Color should be Spectacular.
We will paddle 5.5 miles from Sumner Park in City of Pecatonica stopping at the Pecatonica Forest Preserve for lunch. You may load up your boat and go home at this point, or launch again for more paddling. The next stop is Trask Bridge Road Forest Preserve, 6.5 miles downstream.
Bring a PFD, (Personal Floatation Device (Life Jacket)), lunch, and dump clothes in a dry bag. Be sure to have appropriate paddling skills, and the water might be cold. Wear clothing suitable for cold weather!
A $10 insurance/event fee applies to all paddlers, who are not ACA(American Canoe Association) members. ACA members must show their membership card, or provide membership number (suggestion: write your number on the inside of your PFD, this way, it will always be handy!)
